Directory: every BLKB2B listing with a 2022 NAICS industry code and a county. Baseline: Bureau of Labor Statistics, Quarterly Census of Employment and Wages, 2024 annual average, U.S. private establishments. Public administration is out of scope.

Before quoting a ratio

The federal count lists each work site separately and leaves out businesses with no employees, so one-person trades such as taxi driving read higher than they would against all businesses. Home care (each worker paid through a state program counts as an employer) and churches (most pay no unemployment insurance) are distorted in the baseline itself. A few manufacturing codes read very high, such as lawn and garden tractor manufacturing at 253 times its share, because businesses were filed under the wrong industry. We are busy addressing the issue.

Our directory is a listing of Black-Owned Businesses, not a census. A missing business is missing from our list, not necessarily from the industry. Know one? Add a Business
